Attention Painting Teachers/Designers
ToleTown™ is now accepting teacher/designer submissions for the year 2009.  We normally invite one designer per quarter to teach an online class here in Town.  Occasionally, we will surprise our members with an extra class or two as well.  We are looking for all levels and styles to provide our members with an array of interesting projects and techniques.  To qualify, we suggest that:
  • You have been published in a decorative painting book or magazine publication.
  • Your designs are family-friendly.
  • You have some internet/chat experience (chat experience is not mandatory).
  • Upon acceptance, you have the means to create and email us with a completed photo of the project, step by step photos, supply list, class-prep, and full-size line-drawing.  Video clips are welcome if you know how to create and send them... but they are not required.  We will require completed instructions to provide paid students after class.
  • Your class should be arranged so that it can be taught within 3 hours.  (Students will have their projects basecoated and ready prior to class.)
In return, we will pay you an amount "per student" who registers and pays for your class (in advance).   Members and non-members are invited to register.  We can pay you instantly through Paypal upon completion of the class, or we will be happy to mail a check or money order to you the next business day.  Our normal teacher pay is $10 per student with a payment for a minimum of 10 students.  For example if your online class has12 students who register/pay, we would pay $100 for the first ten (minimum), plus $20 for the extra two.  Another example, if your class has 8 registered/paid students, then you would receive$100 which is the minimum pay.

You will be notified in a timely manner if your project has been accepted or not.  If it has been accepted, we will offer you three dates to choose from to teach the class.  You pick the date and time (based on our suggestions) and then we will work with you from there to gather your class supply list, class preparation, and line-drawing.  We will provide these to the paid students prior to class so that they can gather everything up and get ready!  One week prior to class, we will require the final instructions and completed information so that we can compile an ePacket to provide paid students after class is over.

We do all the work to upload your photos and get your classroom ready.  You will be asked to email us with the information above several days before your class date, so that we can set things up.  You will be expected to arrive in our online classroom at least 15 minutes prior to your class time; and also we will request that you give us 15 minutes of your time on a day prior to class day so that we can run through the classroom with you (online).

During the actual class, your step by step photos will be clickable so that you can teach your class and let the students know when to click on the photos.  You will be teaching the class in 'chatroom style' as you see in our Sample Classroom.

It's easy and it's fun, so we hope that you will consider submitting a project.  Our members are always polite and eager to learn!  We look forward to hearing from you.  If we can answer any questions, please email us anytime.  Read more here!

If you are interested in sending us a submission and learning more, please complete a FORM.

Thank you for your interest in ToleTown
We look forward to working with you.

LIVE Classes at ToleTown.com

Our live classes are taught in an enhanced online classroom, chatroom style. Students receive prep instructions and materials prior to class and come ready to paint! We recommend placing a folding card table or TV tray type table next to the computer in an "L"  shape to allow you to turn to view the computer and then your project... it really works!

The teacher instructs the students just as in a traditional class setting, giving directions, helpful tips and detailed information on the subject matter being presented.  Throughout the class full color step by step photos are presented in the classroom so you can see exactly what the teacher has painted at each step of the project!

To view our classroom, you will need a media player such as Windows Media Player or Real Player (already standard on most computers) as well as java which is a free program that enables computers to view the chatroom area. Most computers already have java installed; but we'll be glad to help if you have any questions.

Try out our "Sample Classroom" to see how it works.  Close the window that pops up to return here.
